It was May 25, the last day of the week-long Brigada Eskwela in Kanacan Elementary and High School for which a hundred volunteers gathered for a short program before starting their work. This moment of excitement was in contrast to the feeling they had in the journey to reach the community.
Kanacan High School in Brgy. Tamugan, Marilog District will breathe new life to six used tires from Apo Agua Infrastructura, Inc. in time for the school opening this June. The tires will be painted and used as planters for the school’s landscaping project.
Works are underway for Part A of Apo Agua’s Davao City Bulk Water Supply Project, which involves the construction of intake facilities, a water treatment facility, and treated water pipelines.
Various initiatives are being carried out for the protection and conservation of the Panigan-Tamugan Watershed. The area is especially critical as it where Davao City’s water supply will be sourced through the Davao City Bulk Water Supply Project (DCBWSP).
Apo Agua President Roman V. Azanza III says the company is beefing up its water portfolio in the next few years and will continue to provide innovative infrastructure solutions that will help sustain the country’s economic growth.
The Construction Kick-Off serves as a ceremonial start to the project’s three-year construction phase which began with engineering design works earlier this year. Apo Agua is targeting to commence operations by the first half of 2021.
Apo Agua is set to build one of the country’s largest private bulk water supply facilities with the capacity to supply sourced from Tamugan River, which is a tributary of the mighty Davao River, considered the third largest river in Mindanao. The Department of Agrarian Reform conducted its on-site inspection and investigation (OSII) last May 17 of the 6.8-hectare prime agricultural land that is the proposed site of Apo Agua’s water treatment facility for the Davao City Bulk Water Supply Project.
